Davie County Health Department - Social Work Clinical Specialist‐ Behavioral Health

Description of work: 
The Social Worker Clinical Specialist is responsible for completing Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA) and providing direct outpatient psychotherapeutic services to primarily at risk children and their families, with some services being provided to adolescents as well.  Services include the following: assessment; treatment; planning; individual, group and family therapy; comprehensive assessments for referral to enhanced benefits services; consultation with and referral to other professionals, including schools, physicians, DSS and the courts.  The objective of this position is to reduce problematic behaviors, stabilize emotions, and increase family harmony and integrity.

Primary responsibilities are the provision of individual, group, and family therapy for individuals with moderate and severe mental health disorders facing complex family situations including physical abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, substance abuse,  trauma,  foster  care,  and  medical  problems.  Work  includes  CCA,  complex  assessment,  diagnosis,  and  independent  selection and use of varied treatment modalities in addressing the complex mental health needs of individuals who may be experiencing a wide array of abuse and behavioral disorders. This position will supervise other clinical professionals, and may be called upon to testify as an expert witness in court hearings. 

Qualifications: Required Minimum Education and Experience:

Master’s  degree  in  Social  Work  from  an  appropriately  accredited  institution  and  three  years  of  social  work  or  counseling  experience as required by the North Carolina Social Work and Licensure Board. 

Additional Training/Experience:

  • Preference  will  be  given  to  candidates  with  prior  history  of  working  with  Social  Services  and  having  an understanding of DSS processes
  • Bilingual is preferred but not required

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

  • One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
  • Valid NC driver’s license

Salary: Grade 74 –Entry level $52,062
