Advanced Standing Program

Students who have graduated from accredited BSW programs may apply for Advanced Standing. Those accepted into this program attain the MSW degree by taking a total of 36 hours in the School of Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Advanced standing students complete a total of 30 hours in the Advanced Curriculum, including required courses for the Advanced Curriculum and one elective (3 credit hours).

A distance education Advanced Standing program is available for students who have graduated from accredited BSW programs and wish to maintain employment while completing the MSW over the course of two years.
