Our Purpose
The Family and Children's Resource
Program is part of the Jordan Institute for Families
at the School of Social Work
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Our organization exists to support
those seeking to improve the lives of families and children. In
pursuit of this goal we work closely with agencies to help them
develop their employees, engage their communities, and improve
interagency collaboration.
The Resource Program enjoys a
productive relationship with the Family Support and Child Welfare
Services Section of the N.C. Division of Social Services, N.C.
Department of Health and Human Services. Since 1993 we have supported
the Division in its efforts to:
- Develop and deliver child welfare
training
- Build a web-based information
system to support training
- Lead and evaluate
permanency-focused system reform efforts
- Hold statewide children's services
conferences, and
- Produce educational newsletters
for social workers and foster parents
If you would like a more detailed description of our contributions to North Carolina's efforts to educate its child welfare workforce, we invite you read a report to the Division describing our activities in 2003-2004.
