Investigative Assessment in Child
Welfare Services is a three-day,
competency-based curriculum focusing on the knowledge and skills
necessary to complete an assessment of a family who has been referred
for possible child abuse or neglect. Topics include:
- Preparing to see the family,
- Completing a comprehensive investigation
of the allegation,
- Documenting assessment of child
safety on an authorized risk assessment tool, and
- Making decisions regarding substantiation
for abuse and neglect.

Investigative Assessment in Child
Welfare Services is currently offered free of charge to social
workers from North Carolina departments of social services. To learn more about class
