POSITION: Social Worker II / Day Care Facilitator
CLOSING DATE: May 30, 2012
STARTING SALARY: $29,454
Duties Performed: Administer day care subsidy program. Determine client eligibility, issue day care vouchers and action notices for changes impacting eligibility. Provide information to parents regarding the types of child care arrangements available. Maintain client files. Explain the subsidy program to child care providers. Monitor payment policies for reimbursement. Monitor the allocation of child care funding and expenditures to ensure the budget is maintained and the maximum use of funding is attained. Maintain a waiting list when needed. Serves as agency facilitator for Child and Family Team meetings.
Liaison with parents, Work First Family Assistance Worker, Child Welfare Social Workers, foster parents, and schools in finding adequate child care arrangements and services to meet the needs of children and families. Confer with these workers on attendance in child care, problems, and issues within families. Assess the special needs of children and assist in finding available resources. Maintains personal contacts with parents/clients and a wide range of human service professionals serving the needs of children and families to coordinate joint efforts to meet a family’s total needs. Serves on a number of committees through out the human services community.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community. Some knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative supervisors, members of caseload, co-workers, child care providers and various community organizations. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience*; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience.
(* Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of casemanagement, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning.)
