Pathare to speak on social work interventions in India, Feb. 24

On Monday, Feb. 24, from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. in Room 500 at the UNC School of Social Work, Suresh Pathare, Ph.D., MSW, will speak on “Participatory social work interventions with rural communities in India: Sharing a bird’s eye view.” The event is free and open to all.

Pathare is a social work educator and research scholar from India and is a recipient of the Dr. C.V. Raman post-doctoral fellowship from the University Grants Commission of India. He is a professor and the director at the Centre for Studies in Rural Development, Institute of Social Work and Research, in Ahmednagar, India, an affiliate of the University of Pune.

He has previously held faculty positions at the School of Social Work, Indira Gandhi National Open University, in New Delhi; the School of Rural Development of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; and in the Department of Social Work, at University of Delhi.

Pathare has been a visiting scholar at the UNC School of Social Work for the past six months, and is returning to India this month.
