New clinical assistant professors join the School of Social Work

The School of Social Work will welcome two new faculty members for the 2019 academic year. Evelyn “Evi” Taylor, PhD, and JP Przewoznik, MSW, will join as clinical assistant professors starting July 1.

Taylor comes to her new role having served as the MSW director and co-chair of the Social Work Department at Arkansas State University, where she has been employed since 2014. Taylor has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Baylor University, an MSW from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Ph.D. in psychology from Northcentral University. A licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of clinical experience, Taylor has worked with diverse populations in numerous settings, including alternative schools, juvenile justice programs, hospitals, residential treatment centers, substance abuse programs, and in private practice. Taylor is the director of A-State CARE, a program in which she and her students offer free tutoring and mentoring, organize community events, and collaborate with other agencies to provide low income families with needed resources. Her research interests include stereotypes, race achievement gap, and athletes’ mental health.

Przewoznik has 20 years of experience in direct practice and systems advocacy, including as a clinician, educator, researcher, program evaluator, policy advocate, and technical assistance provider. She has spent much of her career working with and within LGBTQ+ and HIV+ communities. She has worked as the director of Prevention and Evaluation with the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault, where she provided training and technical assistance to rape crisis centers and college campuses working on sexual violence prevention efforts. Przewoznik currently serves on the boards for Safe Schools North Carolina and FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture.
