School welcomes new MSW students

By Morgan Charlier, first year full-time MSW student

The School of Social Work welcomed more than 100 newly admitted MSW students and their guests during its annual Welcome Weekend April 5-6. This event offered an opportunity for students accepted into the advanced standing, full time, and distance education programs to learn more about the MSW curriculum, field education, dual degree programs, and other areas of involvement. Prospective students also had the chance to meet potential cohort members, faculty, and current students.

During the two-day event, students attended an sample direct practice class with clinical assistant professor Tauchiana Williams and a community, management, and policy practice course with clinical assistant professor Tonya Van Deinse. Activities also included small group discussions led by the School’s Diversity Committee members and students, an information fair and a student organizations and alumni council fair.
