Heath delivers 2018 Bobby Boyd Leadership Lecture

Kathryn Heath, Ph.D., a long-time member of the School’s Board of Advisors and a partner in the consulting firm Flynn Heath Holt Leadership (FHHL) of Charlotte, delivered this year’s 5th annual Bobby Boyd Leadership Lecture on March 20. Heath, a New York Times best selling author, discussed women in leadership during her presentation, “Break Your Own Rules: How to Change Your Patterns of Thinking That Block Your Success.”

Heath is a founding partner at Flynn Heath Holt, whose goal is to move women leaders forward faster. She serves as a coach, developer of leadership programs and training designer. Before co-founding FHHL, she was senior vice president and director of First University at the nation’s fourth-largest bank, First Union (now Wells Fargo). There, her inventive and results-focused approach earned her numerous awards in the field of learning and development.

Heath earned her B.A. in education (UNC-Chapel Hill), M.Ed. in counseling (UNC-Charlotte) and Ph.D. in child development and family relations (UNC-Greensboro). With her husband Thomas Webb, also a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Heath established the Heath-Webb Student Loan Fund, which assists UNC School of Social Work students who are facing financial emergencies. In addition to the School’s Board of Advisors, Heath has served on the N.C. Social Services Commission.
