School adds Clinical Lecture Institutes for training on evidence-based practices

This year UNC School of Social Work is launching Clinical Lecture Institutes, an outgrowth of the Clinical Lecture Series. These Institutes will offer more in-depth training opportunities in evidence-based practices.

Each Institute focuses on providing theoretical grounding and practical skills through a combination of didactic, experiential, and hands-on practices. These events take place in small group settings with lots of opportunities to practice and enhance clinical skills.

The areas of training this year are:

  • Motivational Interviewing  (Intro Fri./Sat., Dec. 5-6, 2014; Advanced Fri./Sat., March 13-14, 2015).
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (Introduction to Approach, Fri., Feb. 6; DBT Skills Workshop Fri., March 6)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a Focus on “Emotional Experiencing” (Fri./Sat., April 17-18)
  • Trauma-Informed CBT (Thurs./Fri., May 21 & 22)

These all-day and multiple-day programs allow for more in depth, hands-on training experiences. Planning is underway.

Please see the Clinical Lectures Institutes website for additional information, and contact Dr. Debbie Barrett if you have any questions.
