The Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR) has joined the distinguished family of journals published by the University of Chicago Press.
The move brings significant resources to JSSWR, a previously online-only peer-reviewed journal launched in 2009. The Press began publishing JSSWR with the Spring 2014 issue, and also created a new website for the journal.
JSSWR is now a hybrid publication with both online and print versions. Online access to JSSWR will remain a benefit to SSWR members, with the journal available to others by subscription. In addition, JSSWR will be available to download as an e-journal for a variety of e-readers and computers.
Since its inception, JSSWR has sought to strengthen the rigor of social work research and advance knowledge in social work and allied professions and disciplines. In partnering with the Press, JSSWR intends to extend its influence.
UNC School of Social Work Distinguished Professor Mark Fraser, editor-in-chief of JSSWR, said, “From the start, we have been committed to making JSSWR a top journal in social work. This move to the University of Chicago Press is not only a giant step forward for JSSWR but also for social work research.”
Diane Wyant, an academic editor and educational specialist at the UNC School of Social Work, is the managing editor of the publication.
Founded in 1891, the University of Chicago Press is widely known as a publisher of some of the world’s foremost scholarly journals. JSSWR joins the Press’ distinguished roster of more than 50 periodicals that present leading-edge research in the social sciences, humanities, education, biological and medical sciences, and physical sciences.

Call for papers: Special issue on intervention research
The JSSWR is currently soliciting manuscripts for a special issue on social work intervention research. The deadline for submission is Nov. 1, 2014.
