Rebecca Brigham, director of field education, has been appointed as the assistant chairperson of the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Field Council. Likewise, she has been appointed secretary of the re-incorporated, North American Network of Field Educators and Directors (NANFED). NANFED is a network of field educators working together to independently represent field educators, promote and celebrate quality field education, and support best practices in field education.
Trenette Clark presented her research to faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate and undergraduate students in the African American Youth Wellness Lab in the UNC Department of Psychology on Nov. 8.
Laurie Selz Campbell is featured in a music video created by the Arts and Peer Support Group, an arts therapy program for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, to help raise needed funds for the group. Jodi Flick trains law enforcement officers from five counties who are completing Crisis Intervention Training certification. Flick teaches the section on intervening with people who are suicidal. She did this training at Durham Tech in Hillsborough on Dec. 5, and will do one on Jan. 23 for the next group of officers going through the program.
Anne Jones presented at the annual conference of the National Council on Family Relations in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 8, on “Effects of a Relationship Strengthening Intervention for Low-income New Parents.”
Susan Snyder will be presenting with colleagues at the 19th Annual National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect, Making Meaningful Connections, in New Orleans. She will speak about a project led by Mark Testa, “Formative evaluation: A Case Study of the Illinois Birth to Three IV-E Waiver.” The conference will be held April 30-May 2, 2014.
