Chris Egan was interviewed about the School of Social Work’s Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI) on a show called “Speak Out, Speak Up,” airing on Raleigh’s Time Warner Cable public access TV channel. The show was taped and ran on June 14 and 15.
MSW student Jenny Gadd was featured in a June 24 North Carolina Health News article, “Group homes provide support, keep mentally ill from hospital,” and in a May 30 article, “Group home funding at risk…again.”
In addition, Gadd was interviewed about her advocacy work, on a June 20 show on Carrboro community radio station 103.5.
Bebe Smith was featured in a June 10 North Carolina Health News article, “Critical time intervention: Offering what’s most needed, now.”
The N.C. Academic Center for Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention (NC-ACE), a UNC project established by School of Social Work Professor Paul Smokowski, was mentioned in a June 20 Fayetteville Observer article, “Robeson County teen court summons volunteers.” Smokowski is quoted in a July 7 Fayetteville Observer article, “Spurred by slayings, Robeson County wages a fight against gangs.”
The UNC School of Social Work’s Black Student Caucus was mentioned in the Chapel Hill Herald May 13 online edition and the June 2 print edition, as winners of a University Diversity Award.
