Student briefs: December 2012

Congratulations to MSW/MPH dual degree student Alison Doernberg, selected to receive a UNC Graduate Education Advancement Board Impact Award. This competition recognizes outstanding graduate student research of particular benefit to North Carolina. She will be honored at the Graduate School’s Annual Student Recognition Celebration on April 10. Doernberg graduates this month.

Lauren Absher wrote a post on NASW-NC’s blog, “Military Social Work in North Carolina,” about the student Military Caucus at our School.

The Support Our Troops Gift Drive organized by the Military Caucus was a huge success, and the students brought lots of toys and treats to the 340th Psychological Unit’s holiday party. “They were all very appreciative,” said Jackie Mroz, Military Caucus co-chair. “Please keep our troops and their families  in your thoughts over the holiday break.”
