Molly Barker, MSW ’89, was a keynote speaker and panelist at a workshop entitled, “How Entrepreneurship Can Change the World,” at UNC’s FedEx Global Education Center on Nov. 12. The event was part of UNC’s Global Entrepreneurship Week. Barker, a School of Social Work board of advisors member, started Girls on the Run, an international program for girls ages 8-13 that employs running and sports as an intervention platform to enhance the self-esteem, social support, and well-being of young women.
Robbie Biddix, MSW ’11, MDiv., spoke to UNC School of Social Work students in Trauma and Violence classes on Oct. 30. A combat veteran, Biddix talked about treating PTSD in veterans. He works at the Vet Center in Raleigh.
Bibhuti Sar, MSW ’84, Ph.D., has led the doctoral program at the Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville (Ky.), for about a year. Dean Terry Singer reports that, “During the most current three week span, Bibhuti hit on three major federal grants; this on the hills of several other major grants that he received during the last couple of years. It still has me floored…His productivity is unbelievable, and I thought you should know. We are very proud of his accomplishments.” Congratulations to Bibhuti on his success!
