- “Evidence-based Practice in Social Work Education: Can Common Elements Move Us Forward?”
- “Exploring University-agency Partnerships for Evidence-based Practice Through Individual Expert Perspectives and Experiences” (with Killian, Wike and Doernberg)
- “Teaching Translation: Engaging BSW, MSW, and PhD Students in Translational Research”
Bledsoe was also invited to present Grand Rounds this month at the Wake County Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, where she will speak on “An Introduction to Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression.”
Mimi Chapman has co-authored two new publications: “Comparing Health and Mental Health Needs, Service Use, and Barriers to Services Among Sexual Minority Youth and Their Peers” in Health and Social Work; and “Building on Strengths: A School-Based Mental Health Program,” in Essential Case Studies in Public Health: Putting Public Health into Practice.
Trenette T. Clark and second-year MSW students, Davena Mgbeokwere and Hawa Owusu will present a poster, “Systematic Review: Social Work’s Research on Substance Abuse Interventions Among African Americans” at the Council on Social Work Education Annual Program Meeting, Atlanta, Ga. on Oct. 28.
Mat Despard presented a workshop entitled, “How to Develop a Financial Capability Project: Building Evidence as You Go,” at the Monitoring and Evaluation track of the Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference, held in Washington, D.C., Sept. 7-9.
Jodi Flick recently presented two full-day AHEC workshops: Sept. 23 at Camp LeJeune on “Suicide and Risk Behavior” and on Sept. 30 for the New Hanover school counselors on “Suicide and Self-Harm.”
On Oct. 10, Flick is testifying at the Legislative Building in Raleigh before the Intentional Death Committee on Risk Factors for Youth Suicide.
She is also presenting the following workshops: Oct. 11 “Bipolar Disorder and its Impact on Family in Fayetteville for AHEC; and “Client Violence: Keeping Yourself and Others Safe” for AHEC in Charlotte Oct. 24, and on Oct. 26 in Asheville.
