John Ira Moore, Jr., MSW ’67, of Raleigh, died July 1, while swimming at Atlantic Beach with his wife of almost 46 years, Lib. He was 68.
He received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1966, in psychology.
Moore’s career included social work in many areas, interrupted briefly by his service in the Army Reserves.
He was instrumental in helping develop the North Carolina Medicaid Program.
The last 22 years he worked with the N.C. Division of Facilities Services, responsible for reviewing the quality of nursing home care.
Funeral services were held July 7, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
