Roberts-Lewis to present in webinar on treating homeless

Associate Professor Amelia Roberts-Lewis is among the presenters in a webinar on Sept. 27, 1:30–2:45 p.m.

Entitled “A Working Life through Treatment, Housing, and a Job,” the webinar is sponsored the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Roberts-Lewis’ primary area of translational research provides evidence-based interventions for substance abusing women, teen girls, and homeless men with co-occurring mental health disorders and trauma histories. Roberts-Lewis has a 5-year, $2 million SAMHSA grant to provide evidence-based practices to Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA).

For people experiencing substance use disorders and homelessness, the most effective strategy integrates treatment, housing, and employment. This webcast will showcase TROSA, a residential treatment and social entrepreneur business venture that includes a moving and storage business, a frame shop and a lawn care service. This entrepreneurial model will be presented followed by a discussion with two formerly homeless participants.
