Michal Grinstein-Weiss, Ph.D. and her assets building research team, along with the Center for Community Capital, received a $431,136 grant from the Ford Foundation to study the $aveNYC Program. $aveNYC is an innovative matched savings account program administered by New York City’s Department of Consumer Affairs, Office of Financial Empowerment. Grinstein-Weiss and her team will collect and analyze data on how $aveNYC helps participants to build financial stability by facilitating savings of tax refunds. They will examine the impacts of this program on savings, savings behavior and social outcomes.
