North Carolina Boomers by Occupation in 1990 and Pension Prospects

This animated chart show the proportion of boomers in 6 occupational categories in 1990. It also shows the proportion of each group that would retire with pensions if they do as well as people age 55+ retiring from private industry nationally in 1993. Not included in this chart are the boomers in fishing, farming, and agriculture (about 3.4%) and the 300,000 boomers not in the workforce. Both of these groups may not have access to pensions. Also not included are boomers in local, state, or federal government, perhaps 14% of the workforce, who very well may have pensions. (To see it again, hit the "reload" button on your browser.)
