NC Boomers' Education Compared to US, 1990

Education is one of the best predictors of current socioeconomic status and of financial well-being in retirement. More than half of North Carolina's boomers have a high school education or less (data), which limits their earning potential. However, in 1995-96, North Carolina's Community College System's 57 campuses enrolled 85,131 boomers in its various programs, while the University of North Carolina system's 16 campuses enrolled 9,051 boomers in undergraduate programs and 9,341 in graduate programs.
