Slide 29 of 38
Notes:
This shows the numbers behind the high risk boomer behaviors mentioned on the previous slide.
Lacking health insurance is listed as a high risk behavior because having no health insurance now is not only a driving force behind inappropriate emergency room use, but may lead to more untreated conditions and higher expenses falling to Medicare later on. (For example, it is cheaper and provides better quality of life to prevent/check for/treat diabetes at age 50 than to care for the amputations, blindness, and other results of untreated diabetes after age 65.)
