Throughout the presentation, unless otherwise specified, all comparisons of younger boomers, older boomers, and older adults or “their parents’ generation” refers to all three groups at ages 25 through 34. This means older boomers in 1980, younger boomers in 1990, and today’s older adults in 1950.
Household incomes are higher both because of real dollar increases in salaries and because more women are working outside the home.
The increase in income equality represents only a small step as is we will see later in the presentation.
