We are already aging faster than other southern states, even though we have not yet begun to feel the effects of the Baby Boomers who are still in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.
Our older population grew 15 percent between 1990 and 1996.
In 1995, we ranked 10th in the number of people age 65 and older and 31st in the proportion its population in that age group.
