Developmental Disabilities Training Institute Joins the School
On July 1, the Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI) joined the Jordan Institute at the School of Social Work, adding an important dimension to the scope of research and service of the School.
Founded in 1963, DDTI was formed at a time when community-based services for the developmentally disabled were nearly nonexistent, and evolved over 43 years to a leading North Carolina organization working to ensure the well-being and inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities.
Working with School of Social Work faculty and administration, DDTI plans to strengthen and expand its record of research and service. The School’s Assistant Professor Susan Parish will act as the principal investigator and Cynthia Wiford, an assistant clinical professor, will function as a co-investigator. The former interim director of DDTI, Christopher Egan, will serve as the project coordinator.
To read more about DDTI and its new role at the School, see the fall issue of "Contact" out in November.
