School to Host 2005 Career Day University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work Career Day Career Day Registration Form for Recruiters For all agency directors, field instructors, alumni, and other potential Career Day recruiters: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work is hosting its annual Career Day/Job Fair on Monday, April 4, 2005, from 10:30 am-1:30 pm at the School of Social Work. In addition to the job fair, all recruiters are invited to attend a continuing education workshop at the School of Social Work from 1:30 -3:30 pm following Career Day. Preliminary sponsors for Career Day include the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and the UNC-CH Career Services Office. Students from the School of Social Work and students from North Carolina undergraduate BSW programs are invited to Career Day to come explore social work career opportunities. Graduates of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work are well qualified, having, on the average, two years of social work experience prior to coming to graduate school. In addition to a curriculum that allows them to concentrate in a field of practice, the majority have also had 1200 hours of MSW supervised field practice. North Carolina BSW students come from outstanding BSW programs where students are prepared for beginning-level professional social work positions. Career Day will provide your agency with an opportunity to recruit MSW or BSW students for current and future job openings in social work and to interest them in your field of service. Following Career Day, a continuing education mini-workshop has been planned for recruiters from 1:30 - 3:30 PM School of Social Work faculty members Paul Smokowski and Martica Bacallao will facilitate a workshop titled, "Between Two Worlds: Social Work Practice with Latino Immigrants.". The workshop will be offered at no cost to recruiters, and the School will provide certificates documenting completion of two contact hours at the conclusion of the session. A minimum of 10 participants are needed in order to support this workshop. If you are interested in sending a representative to Career Day and/or the continuing education workshop, please print out the Career Day Registration Form and fax or send it to the School of Social Work before the registration deadline, Monday, March 28, 2005. Please register as soon as possible; because of limited space, registration for only 50 exhibit booths will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking and lunch will be provided for two agency representatives. For each additional representative, there is s $10 per person fee. If you are unable to attend but have some materials that you would like to be available for students at Career Day, please send them along with your registration form. If you have any questions about Career Day or the continuing education workshop, please contact Beth Sauer at 919-962-6443 or bhsauer@email.unc.edu. Details about the schedule for the day, parking and transportation, and the continuing education workshop will be mailed in mid-March to all those who plan to attend. We look forward to your participation in this event. Career Day Registration Form for Recruiters
