Graduate Students Receive University Awards for Social Work Projects

Four graduate students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, including one from the School of Social Work, received awards for work on School projects at the UNC Graduate School's Centennial Kickoff Celebration held March 6.

Mimi Kim, a doctoral student at the School, received a Dean's Award for her work on the impact of trauma on substance-abusing homeless men.

Christine Kellcher and Susan Yackee, graduate students in political science, received Centennial Awards for their work on tracking county responses to welfare reform. Dr. Phillip Cook was the principal investigator of this project.

Hye-Chung "Monica" Kum, a graduate computer science student, received a Dean's Award for her data management and analysis work with the Work First program. Dr. Dean Duncan of the Jordan Institute of Families is the principal investigator of this project.
