The National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter (NASW-NC) bestowed honors on two of the School of Social Work’s professors at their Annual Ethics Conference and Awards Banquet on March 9 in Raleigh, N.C.
Anna Scheyett ’89 has been named the 2007 Social Worker of the Year by the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Work (NASW-NC). Scheyett’s social work career spans almost 20 years, during which she has focused her teaching, research and service in the areas of substance abuse, mental health and social justice. The NASW-NC Social Worker of the Year Award is an annual award that is given to a distinguished NASW member who has demonstrated commendable social work practice, and commitment and involvement with NASW.
Gary Shaffer has been named the2007 Advocate of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers - North Carolina Chapter (NASW-NC). Shaffer received the honor for his leadership in school social work and as a social work educator.
