MSW Student Wins First NASW-NC President's AwardThe N.C. Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NC) has awarded its first President's Award to MSW student Holly Yaeger. The President's Award is given to a student who demonstrates exemplary commitment to the field of social work. Yaeger, who received $1,000 and a plaque for the award, is a second year student at the School of Social Work. "It was such an honor because it came from past presidents of the NASW-NC," said Yaeger. "Being the first student to win the award was really exciting." Yaeger's contributions as a leader within the School of Social Work as well as her volunteer service in the surrounding communities have made her an outstanding member of the School. Yaeger has served as a chair of Social Work Students Organization at the School and volunteered her time at UNC Hospitals as well as at the Student Health Action Coalition. Yaeger is a part of the North Carolina Education Collaborative and plans on continuing her bright future in social work with the North Carolina public child welfare system after graduating in May. She hopes to later pursue her PhD and eventually teach at the college level. |
