Fraser Designated as Aaron Rosen Scholar by the Society for Social Work and Research
Fraser was nominated in the national competition for the award and was selected on the basis of his research contributions to social work practice. He is the first recipient of this award. "I was floored," said Fraser, recounting the moment he learned of his honor. "It's one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me,
and at the same time, one of the most challenging," he said. Fraser's lecture, Intervention Research in Social Work: Recent Advances and Continuing Challenges,
challenged his peers to conduct more rigorous research on the effectiveness of social and health services. In addition, he
reviewed advances in theory and methods for designing programs for children and families. "Dr. Fraser's work truly advances the evidence based knowledge needed by the social work profession, and his lecture was
received with great enthusiasm," said Dr. Paula Allen-Meares, President of SSWR and Dean of the School of Social Work at The University of Michigan.
"Attendees were thoroughly impressed with the intellectual rigor and thoughtfulness of his presentation," she said. The SSWR established the Aaron Rosen Lecture as a scholarly and authoritative lecture focusing on the integration of
practice and research in the field of social work, and to provide formal recognition of significant research contributions. |
