Carlton-LaNey Receives University Teaching Award

Kim Strom-Gottfried Dr. Iris Carlton-LaNey, professor at the School of Social Work, received one of four 2006 UNC-Chapel Hill Distinguished Teaching Awards for Post-Baccalaureate Instruction.

Carlton-LaNey was nominated for the award by the School's awards and honors committee, with support from students and colleagues.

First given in 1995, the Distinguished Teaching Award carries a one-time $5,000 stipend.

In 2003, Carlton-LaNey received the Council on Social Work Education's (CSWE) Distinguished Recent Contributions to Social work Education Award that recognized her scholarship, seminal writings, research, and service to the social work profession over the last ten years.

Carlton-LaNey has taught at the School of Social Work since 1994.
